Pros

Good benefits Individual Contributors are incredibly hard working and very passionate about their jobs and our customers

Cons

Constant mass layoffs leaves everyone fearful for job security and unknown if they will be next. Too much AI usage. Nothing feels authentic anymore. Constant restructuring and for some reason leadership keeps changing direction each month, it seems. It gets overwhelming trying to keep up with the changes. Not to mention every department is so understaffed, employee morale has been severely affected. It’s a constant state of stress with the feeling of no light at the end of the tunnel. Management and leadership say there is a light coming, and to give it time, but it’s been years and nothing has changed. There’s no recognition for hard work and no bonuses. They say there are bonuses, but not sure how true that is. The harder you work, the only thing you get is burnout and more work thrown on your plate because you prove to be a hard worker. But in the end, regardless if you are an overachiever or do the bare minimum, everyone gets the same 3% raise. Why work harder if we all get the same raise in the end? Pay is low. Promotions get promised, but then the opportunities never come to light. So you’re constantly overworking yourself for the empty promises. Some managers seem to have a double standard, being harsher with their hard working employees and showing more favoritism towards employees who don’t want to do more than the bare minimum.

Pros

The people I work alongside are top-notch humans - kind, driven, thoughtful, collaborative and curious.

Cons

Leaders holding the ICs back or to unrealistic timelines, leaning more towards all in-person work, and pay isn't competitive. Wouldn't recommend an engineer work here.

Pros

People at the IC, manager, and director levels are genuinely great to work with. Good culture where everyone treats each other with respect and does what they can to help. Hybrid work schedule and unlimited PTO are nice, but ultimately flexibility is department and manager dependent. 321 coffee shop has a great vibe, awesome employees, and delicious drinks! Good health insurance benefits and 6% 401k match. I had great work life balance while I worked there, and my managers encouraged it.

Cons

Low pay. They do have great benefits, but when the pay is so far below what you could be making elsewhere, the benefits don't bridge the gap. They did away with merit increases several years ago and now everyone gets a flat 3% raise every July. When asked why these cost of living adjustments are lower than inflation, the Chief People Officer stated that they were never intended to keep pace with inflation. So this company is perfectly fine with you making less money year-over-year. They tout the opportunity to earn spot bonuses; however, these are nearly impossible to get approved, and even if you do it will only be $500. I also know of multiple people managers in the company making <$100K/yr. The executive leadership team is inexperienced and out of their depth. For most of them it is their first C-suite role. The CEO has surrounded himself with yes-people and any voice of dissent is promptly shown the exit. They are consistently given the same feedback about low pay, RTO, change fatigue from ever-shifting priorities, etc. and they never look inward to change anything. They only point the finger back at the employees and blame them. This has created a toxic culture where people are literally told by their managers not to speak up in meetings because otherwise they will be targeted for the next round of layoffs. Front line Managers often shoulder the brunt of this. Before the most recent Bertelsmann survey, managers were required to explain the company's pay policies to their direct reports. When the item about being compensated fairly came back low in the survey (as it does every single year), managers were blamed for not communicating the policies well enough. Clearly the issue is in the paycheck (which managers have no say in), not the communication. But again, that would require the C-Suite to take ownership, so it won't happen. Frequent layoffs and restructuring. The Product team specifically restructures about twice a year, always with folks being let go in the process. Managers have historically not been given a say in which ICs were laid off, so even if you are doing a great job, you could be let go by no fault of your own.
