Lots of good people, but the business is in trouble

Pros

Good work-life balance, and if you're on the right team, you can work with some of the smartest, kindest people you could ever find. The work is meaningful and rewarding

Cons

Layoffs have become all too frequent, and lots of excellent people are either let go without any rhyme or reason, or have quit on their own. Little to no transparency from upper management. Promises of no more layoffs, yet more keep coming. Nobody takes accountability for frequent bad leadership decisions. Completely tone-deaf communication when layoffs occur.

They are learning from their mistakes and are greatly improving. This also means there is a lot of room for people to step up and make a difference.

Regarding your advice to continue to focus on system improvements, it’s always a balance between developing new features/functions and improving the performance and stability of the system. Engineering leadership continues to work closely with Product leadership to develop a roadmap that balances both priorities appropriately.
