Teachers work for the kids...the adults in this district are what make it difficult.

Pros

The diversity of the student and their want to learn and grow is refreshing. The ability to really teach what you want and being able to move forward with new fresh ideas.

Cons

The infrastructure behind the RSD is broken. The HR is a joke, the professional trainings are also lackluster. The benefit plans are very expensive and the Benefit Coordinators never think it is their job to help you. If I could just teach and never deal with the district my life would be so much easier.

Pros

The salary and benefits are good. Most of the people you work with are great.

Cons

There is a lot of "indoctrination" of staff through staff development and there was retaliation if you asked questions or expressed a different view, It wasn't on the education of students skills but more on an emotional level which provided opinions, not facts. The focus should be on actual educational skills and not social/political beliefs.
