Pros

The company as a whole is great. They have very good benefits, with a good pay range for (most) employees, standard vacation policy that increases with seniority, basically good working environment overall. For the most part, when you call someone for assistance, they provide it. The upper management levels have a vision that is clear and easy to understand, and can make you a believer. Depending on where you work - literally - the location is either really, really, nice or really, really ugly. Even though it is the garbage company, some locations are so clean and well-cared for that you can't tell that's where you are.

Cons

Upper management visions and goals get disconnected downstream and by the time they get to the level where they are expected to be enthusiastically carried out, they get lost, and sometimes not implemented at all. Again, however, this does matter where your location is and the relationship the manager has with upper levels. There is very little respect for the "worker bees" and the level/amount of workload and stress they are expected to carry. It is not uncommon for an office employee to work 50+ hour weeks, including Saturdays, in order to get the job done. There is no cross-training. Trash truck drivers are expected, no matter the weather or conditions of the truck, to stay within the DOT guidelines at all times. They are labeled as incompetent or lazy if they cannot do their route within the timeline the company has determined. Favoritism abounds. If they like you, you have it made. If they don't, watch your back. If you complain about anything, it goes nowhere. If you compliment, it goes nowhere. The chain of command is expressly followed and if you go around it for whatever reason, be prepared. Not all locations are recognized for their awards or commendations. Again, depends on where it is located. Some GM's do not want any lights shown on them, no matter how good it makes them look, because then they have to "entertain" visitors, and they don't want to.

Pros

Decent salary. Budget for coffee.

Cons

No real vision on how company should be led. No respect of middle management. Burn and turn. This company will not be able to become a leader until it puts it's house in order first. Too much energy and resouces are put into expansion instead of cultivating the resources it has already acquired. The most talented will leave this company.
