They are not who they pretend to be

Pros

None, because I learned that everything I was told was a lie.

Cons

So many that I do not know where to start. Generally speaking, the entire leadership team is one giant, disorganized, pathetic mess. No one knows what they are doing, they are all insanely unqualified for their roles and I'm not sure how they got there other than maybe having an in with the CEO? I was bold faced lied to about everything. From company culture, team culture, leadership, growth, stability only to find out everything is just the complete opposite. They are not growing, they are shrinking. There was a recent layoff of their full time employees. We found out we were getting laid off via a slack message in one of the company channels saying that today they are letting people go and you'll find out by end of day if you're staying/leaving. This is not the way a normal, respectable company would conduct themselves, not even close. Don't post a Slack message telling people that there are going to be layoffs. That is incredibly unprofessional, that is not how a message about layoffs should be communicated. When I got my invite, I had to wait 1.5 hours from the time I got the invite to when the meeting actually started. I know that I was not the only one that experienced this wait time. Hot tip - when you lay people off, you send them an invite immediately before starting the meeting. The entire experience was especially cruel, unusual and unprofessional to say the least. The leadership team should be ashamed of how they conducted themselves, it was a complete disgrace and failure. The last thing I will say is that they have some weird inner circle for former employees at LinkedIn. Buddies hiring buddies and they protect each other. So I guess if you're from LinkedIn, you'll excel here.

Lots of Good Things

Pros

I've been with this company going on five years. As far as part-time gigs go, particularly if you are just starting out in transcriptions and captions work, you truly don't get much better than this. They offer a tiny compensation for on-the-job training and practice, and then from there, you essentially design your schedule and how much or how little you'd like to work. Keep in mind, most of the work gets posted according to PST (which can result in later/odd hours for those of us on the east coast). People get bent out of shape because there isn't much room for benefits, but keep in mind, this is contract work, meaning you're going to have to find other ways to receive benefits.

Cons

It's not always easy to find consistent work, but this isn't something the company can always control.

Pros

It's an interesting Technology Space

Cons

Culture is a mixed bag - not how it was portrayed in the interview. Dysfunctional leadership - top down. Made promises they were not willing nor able to keep. Lack of direction to new employees. Inadequate onboarding to achieve ramp-up goals.
