Great opportunity, but you have to be committed
Pros
-Paid Training working as a full-time associate. Most bootcamps will have you pay before hand a hefty sum. Revature will put you on a contract where you pay the "debt" (for lack of a better word) once you've been employed. I took this as a sign that they were investing in me as much as I was committed to their program. -Excellent trainers. Revature often hires it's associates as teachers, so they're understanding of our experiences -set you up with clients for interview
Cons
Disclaimer: I wouldn't call these cons because they're clarified by Revature beforehand -Program is extremely fast paced. I had no previous training or college learning on full-stack software engineering and was expected to learn full stack Java/react as well as DevOps in 3 months -An extremely wide range of skill levels. I was under the pretense that most of the associates were like me and had little to no software engineering experience. This was incorrect. There were many students who had bachelors or associates. It made it difficult for our trainer to engage to all the different skill levels. I truly empathized with him on that because the level of questions were all over the place. - If you aren't able to keep up you will be released and it 's really hard to keep up when all the material complicated and new. So expect to put in some heavy hours. minimum of 55 hrs/wk in my case and you don't get paid for that. -pay was minimum wage for the 3 mos and once you get on client, you get paid a lot less than your peers bc you're paying Revature back - expect to travel. If you can't travel this program is not for you - one of the more forthright and goodwilled organizations I have worked for
