Pros

Revature will hire anyone. They will pay you to go through their training, and you have a guarantee to have a full time position after completing training. Raises built into contract.

Cons

Relocation contractually required to anywhere in continental US. Lower pay than industry average, but you're also just starting out. Training is intense, and not everyone will complete it.

Pros

I read many reviews of the company prior to joining (good and bad) and after being hired with Revature, going through the training, and now being hired with a client I can say that this program is worth it. However, it is not for the faint of heart.

Cons

Revature training can be intense and will require a lot more hours of study outside of work hours but if you put in the work then you might actually get something out of it. I almost gave up MANY times but I am glad I didn't.

Pros

I'll start by saying I read all the negative reviews before applying to Revature and it put me off from applying for a while. I was self-learning front-end development for a few months and really want to push myself harder. The idea of a bootcamp style training really appealed to me. I enjoy challenges and the tougher the better. Coding bootcamps are really expensive with no real guarantee I would land a job after. I discussed my options with my wife and she agreed I should try Revature. They pay YOU to learn programming. My biggest hesitancy was my own competence. Can I really learn Java and Spring etc in 3 months?! I spent weeks learning HTML, weeks learning CSS, and JavaScript was kicking my behind. Ultimately I decided what did I have to lose. If I couldn't hack it at least I would be getting paid to study instead of studying for nothing. I applied and received an email for a coding challenge! There was no way I could pass a coding challenge and sure enough the questions were based on Java which I had never studied before. I assumed that was the end of it but the next day a recruiter called me and asked me a ton of questions. I relayed that I was self-learning programming and pretty must studying a min of 8 hrs a day already but I was new to coding. He said they would teach me and all it took was grit and an attitude of gratitude and I'd pass training. They hired me and asked if I would be will to start in 5 days! They gave me an option to delay for 2 weeks (which in hindsight would have been much wiser) but I said I'd start right away . They put me into a 12 week batch with the first 2 weeks basically being an intro to computing with Java starting week 3. Well the pace is intense and some frankly found it too fast for their ability. I admit if I hadn't been self-studying and at least knew the basics even the first easy two weeks would have probably ended me as well. My strategy was to basically spend all of my time everyday studying and working though several of my batchmates pretty much only study during work time. After 3 months I can honestly say ...thank you to Revature. I learned a ton of new technologies in a really short time frame and I really know them. Am I an expert? Not at all! But if I were to self study there is no way I could have tackled so much in this time frame. All while being paid! If I had to do it all over again I would in a heartbeat. If you are someone looking to get a toe into the industry or learn coding consider Revature for sure.

Cons

Forced relocation is true but probably not an issue because we are still in covid time. Training is completely remote and a lot of jobs are remote as well. You must be willing to relocate but that is the tradeoff. You don't pay them 20k that you would pay a bootcamp they pay you! In a Faustian exchange though you then promise to work at slightly less pay and relocate whereever they can find you a job. Fair imo. The program requires self-motivation. Several people who didn't really understand what this program required simply couldn't keep up. You must work extra hours and weekends to be successful unless you already know the technologies. When weighing the pros against the cons its hard to find a reason not to choose Revature. Of course if you can land a tech job on your own do it but if you are struggling getting interviews, or learning programming don't hesitate to give them a try. Worst case you don't make it and you will still have accumulated a ton of knowledge.
