Just Don't Do It

Pros

They "develop" you into being a suitable engineer. It's a job and okay opportunity if you're desperate and willing to put in the time.

Cons

The environment and contract are bad. I wagered a lot and took the plunge to try this out. No matter your educational background or specific talents, you just become a sardine in this environment. I have tried other types of bootcamps before, and the communication and respect is MUCH better in every situation I've been in. Please look into other programs before going with this company. I don't know if I had a bad instructor and some of the others are better, but mine tried to treat everyone like we were in basic training instead of supporting us as individuals and trying to meet us halfway. You cannot just treat people like soldiers and expect strong results. Sure, you'll weed out the "weak" ones, but you also keep desperate ones who put up with it.

Pros

The housing was surprisingly nice

Cons

If you are looking for a professional environment, this job is not for you. I felt like I was in a classroom with high school students. Revature preys on people who are absolutely desperate for any job. This is displayed in the fact that they are unwilling to show you your contract before you come to a training location. My recruiter lied to me about how long I would be given to look over the contract, another tell tale sign that the contract is not great. You are looking at a 36k breach penalty on top of plenty of other very negative scenarios for you as an employee. Revature farms you out to two main companies after your training (don't believe their client list). If you are really desperate for a job, maybe this is for you. If you act like you're still in high school, maybe this is for you.. The contract is non negotiable. You will be relocated wherever they want you to go, whenever they want you to go, and however many times they want you to for two years. You will only be compensated for your first relocation upon completion of training. I would advise against taking the "opportunity" for training.
