Pros

Decent pay, but not something you wouldn’t get somewhere else. You may be lucky enough to end up in a good team, with colleagues sharing your mindset. Or not.

Cons

Can’t stress enough how much senior managament lacks leadership. However, it doesn’t look like something is going to change. They try to sell you some ideas like “hypergrowth”, “not for everyone” just to mask out the demeaning and toxic way in which senior management behaves. From engineering point of view, don’t expect a consistent progress in your career. You’re hired to get it done, not to come up with ideas. Processes are chaotic and very few things are actually streamlined. Some people are still working towards proving themselves, so 10-12 hours work days are a thing. If you don’t do it, don’t ever expect any kind of meaningful recognition. Work smart, not hard, might be the case, but, let’s not forget, they hire smart people. Quite a few experienced and good engineers have either left or started laying low, just because things don’t seem to change. It’s difficult to find the will to prove yourself in front of someone who gives you no reasons to respect them/inspire you. If you’re a yes man, then be prepared for burnout. Also, having managers telling everyone “good job” on every little thing, is not recognition. Just diminishes the meaning of what “good job” means. And we can tell they don’t actually mean it.

Hi there, thank you for sharing your thoughts. We can hear your discontentment with some of your Revolut experience and we'd like to try to fix that. If you have suggestions on how we can improve your situation, please consider raising them with your line manager and let's see what we can improve. That said, there's no denying that Revolut is on a high growth trajectory as our continually growing customer base and rate of expansion show. That makes this a great place for ambitious, enthusiastic people who want to learn and grow fast but we recognise too that we all have different thresholds for pressure and varied workload capacities so we try to be aware of those differences. We're still growing our capacity and processes fast to meet demand so sometimes our processes and workload haven't been as well managed as we intend or we haven't communicated as carefully as we might - but we do listen and we're always working to improve.. We're serious about feedback from Revoluters. By intently listening, we've birthed new policies, such as our hybrid working arrangement, 60-day temporary working abroad flexibility and our new exciting office spaces (RevLabs). We certainly hope you stay the course as a Revoluter. All the best.

This is really disappointing - no hiding from that - but we'd like to come back on some of the points. We can't pretend we have anything like the number of women we want in leadership positions. We're working to change that . But it's certainly not for lack of respect. At entry level we're glad that women aren't far off 50% of our recruits but like many tech companies there are far fewer as you go up the levels. We're laying down targets and creating a road map to raise our game here. We aim to at least double the proportion of women in our leadership roles. We don't accept that women are treated differently from their male colleagues. We have inspiring women in some of our most important roles, like our CEOs in Japan and India, the chief operating officer of our wealth and trading business, head of global authorisations and directors in financial crime, risk management and legal. We believe that every employee should be treated with respect, female or male, and we won't tolerate anything else. We're disappointed that one of our colleagues thinks our benefits don't measure up. We aim to offer benefits at least as good as our peers and we’re upgrading our parental benefits in Q3, focusing on leave and support for our employees. The truth is we're a young company and we're learning fast and introducing new benefits and improving all the time. We learn from employees (and even competitors) what they think makes life work for them (like hybrid working, up to two months working abroad and this year two extra well being days to take when you need them). And we'll keep doing that. We would really like to speak with you about the points you have raised, please reach out to your manager, Jim and/or our thriving Women@Revolut guild. We want all voices to be heard at Revolut. We can always be better, and we'll never settle.

Pros

1. High velocity 2. Some benefits related to Revolut product.

Cons

1. toxic work culture 2. employees especially UX designers are treated like machines, with no empathy 3. UX designers are treated like a tool at Product leaders (managers) disposal. Product leaders have issues with UX designers spending time in iterations. 4. Its top down approach where product leaders follow what is told to them and then people in his team are required to follow what product leader thinks. 5. UX designers can't lead extremely difficult to impact roadmap. NOTE Employyes are asked (forced) by HR folks to share positive reviews on glassdoor.

Hello, thank you for your comment. Companies take many approaches to UX and product ownership, and our approach may not be the same as your experience elsewhere. It is not that any team is more important than the other or to imply any lack of trust or respect. Product teams have a wider overview of everything related to the product (GTM, roadmaps, information from key stakeholders) so we ask that other teams take their lead. If this workflow isn't working well we recommend discussing it with your line manager and do please be willing to suggest solutions. We like to think that we're open to different routes if they get us to our destination. Glassdoor reviews are always voluntary. We'd never suggest that anyone contributes anything but their own experience as it's your views that count. We know that many, many Revoluters find their time with us hugely rewarding so we hope they'll share those views. We hope you'll talk to colleagues or to HR about how we can improve your experience together.
