Keeps going downhill

Pros

They pay on time, raises are the same across the board though so no point in going above and beyond (market only no merit).

Cons

If you are not a nurse that makes the hospital $ then you are worse than a second class citizen. Can not or will not fill vacant positions resulting in you working short staffed 95% of the time. That is unless you work on dayshift, they magically get all their positions approved and filled. The more UNC sinks their teeth into Rex the more downhill it goes, it is a shame because they really used to care about their employees.

Pros

New H&V building and a lot of new renovations

Cons

Low pay for an awful job at an awful hospital. I've never seen such disregard to staff and patients. They make cuts left and right and not in the right places. There are WAY too many Chiefs and not enough Indians. For a place that hypes up being a "Magnet Facility" and having "Top Leap Frog Scores" it is a total joke. The reason they get away with it is because the place is run by new graduates who don't know any better. These new "know it all" nurses are at the beginning of their career and will put up with anything to try and get ahead. The charge nurses and "team leaders" have 1-2 years of experience... and think they know everything.... it's sad. The medical care is lacking and behind. When suggesting evidence based practice it is shot down because "well that's how we've always done it. "

Pros

Patient satisfaction is the #1 priority with Rex. A ton of patient surveys go out during each year to make sure that our patients are 100% satisfied with the care that has been delivered on a daily basis. Rex cares about their employees and engages in coworker forums periodically to receive employee perspective which is very important.

Cons

At times management is not very quick to inform employees of the process changes that happen. Management also has their favorites and it shows thru at times, it also seems very hard to move up the corporate ladder unless you know someone who knows someone.
