Pros

To put it short, I learned a lot. A couple of interesting products to work on. Products really make a difference to be proud of! Most of the time there were some excellent teams to work with in Lenexa and in Sofia. Decent salary and benefits. Office space used to be great some of the time.

Cons

Chaotic management was the greatest problem. Lack of planning and processes. No clear goals and priorities. No development plans even for key experts on the teams. Poor team performance and communication in Chennai. Nonexistent company culture sporadically turning into a toxic nightmare. An omnipresent sense of uncertainty and anxiety. All teams get distracted with CEO’s side projects to the point they no longer can support company’s core products. Micromanagement is the norm. Nonexistent flexibility policies.

Pros

-Good salary for Bulgaria standard, but only with results and if you ask for a raise yourself. No proactiveness on HIS side. -Good and friendly teams both in Sofia and Lenexa. -Interesting and pleasant job as a traffic engineer, as long as the CEO doesn't interfere. He's doing that in a daily basis with Marketing and Sales, resulting in very high turnover in those departments. He started to do the same recently with Engineering, leading to 5 out of 6 Engineers in Sofia and 2 out of 4 in Lenexa resigning (those continuing are young and inexperienced). -If asked again, I would still start this job, despite the Cons described below, because I got a lot of experience in Traffic Engineering with a good remuneration and only people who allowed to be exploited were so - not me, for sure.

Cons

-There is a bunch of reviews already describing that the main negative side is the CEO. I agree and I can add the very first reason is the trauma he is dealing with, related to his level of acceptance in US society, as well as prejudices for people in Bulgaria. -CEO's recent error to hire an unprofessional HR whose behaviour made the office look like the Big Brother house full of gossip and drama that I've never seen before, and to not want to listen to people's feedback, led to an almost empty Sofia office in 2 months, with very bad consequences in terms of customer support (long queue of projects that townships are waiting for, with a total lack of experienced workforce to deal with - unfortunately young girls hired in Chennai have no experience and a 30 pages training pdf is not enough). -In the beginning of 2024 the unprofessional HR, tolerated by the naive CEO, tried to scam an employee with a compensation amount. The whole office "burst", the General Labour Inspectorate found out and visited the company, an important fine is being processed with reputation wounds difficult to heal anymore. (All this in Bulgaria, fortunately the US office has not been affected except for losing support from Europe). -CEO was inadvertently heard during Teambuilding after a few drinks advicing managers to look at employees like prisoners. He is also tactless when saying he is tired of hiring people doing shi*ty" work.
