Excellent benefits and competitive pay across departments.

Cons

Poor culture. People have been working together as toxic management cliques for 15+ years in many departments. Do not expect to move up. Expect micromanagement, a lack of accountability for upper management who can't get with the times, elitism, and bullying/ insults disguised as "constructive criticism".

Pros

Good benefits, good colleagues, great support with in the shops. Rice is a special place and a beautiful campus.

Cons

Toxic administration that undercuts it employees at the knees, is disrespectful to contractors, plays games among favorites in the department, yells and berates employees. Don’t expect a pat on the back for good work. HR has heard the claims of many former employees who have left and cited the same problems over and over and they have never done anything. They flip flop on department policies at their will to what suits them and not the employees.
