Pros

From an HR perspective, Rice offers great benefits packages and competitive pay (as competitive as it can be in higher education). The experience is worth so much more. Everyone I have met on this campus has been very kind and welcoming and the students amaze me every day with their accomplishements

Cons

Sometimes the hours are abnormal (not 9-5) and it can be very difficult to change things from the way they have "always been done". Occasionally, you meet students who feel entitled by there presence at an elite university.

The average number of years for graduation varies by departments. For the department I am in, the departmental camaraderie is great.

Cons

This department has one of the lowest stipends in the school. Different departments are treated differently.
