Pros

Integrated and tight-knit research environment where people work together from different departments. High-caliber researchers from various fields of study. Intimate campus, complete with a graduate bar.

Cons

Not much else I didn't like. Grad school sucks, but you knew that already. Some issues with administration overlooking graduate student issues, but much of that has improved recently.

Pros

Academic flexibility, flexible hours, and the freedom to pursue personal interests. Personal interaction with a large range of skill-sets and expertise.

Cons

Lack of normal working hours sometimes means working very early and very late. Graduate students are the lowest of the low on the totem pole of seniority, which is to be expected. Grad student pay is also very, very low.
