Pros

Reputation is high, students can learn a lot from the faculties since the faculty/student ratio is pretty high. Living expenses are not quite high in Houston compare to other big cities like NYC, Chicago, and LA.

Cons

Research directions are limited since the faculty number is also low. You may not find an exactly matched field that you are interested in at Rice.

The school provides great environment, locates in a very nice neighborhood of Houston. Class size is small (25). Staffs are super helpful.

Cons

Expensive tuition. Some professors don't care about students' interest. There is not a lot of opportunities for students to work on campus.

Rice is focused on high quality teaching and research. You will work with great, intelligent students. There is a strong focus on improvements and growth. It is a demanding but also highly motivational environment.

Cons

Some of the schools are too concerned with ratings and give students too much control over the teaching process.
