Hard to beat the work-life balance. The retirement plan is an annuity, which is pretty good if you stay on long enough to become fully vested. Since this is a government employer, your job will be safe and secure as long as you're a good employee. I don't regret working here, and I'd return to working here under the right circumstances.

Cons

Progress happens at government-speed. Folks in some career disciplines will likely earn higher wages elsewhere. In some departments, opportunities for promotions may be infrequent.
