Pros

I have been working here for over a year and the company is a true rocket ship. I want to call attention to a team of leaders and front line individuals here that have worked their tails off to get the company to where it is today. It is truly inspiring and remarkable the drive and spirit of so many crucial teammates I work alongside. If there’s a way to explain why the DNA here is so special, I attribute a lot of this to the mission the company’s founders have oriented the business around and also the values that have been rolled out to drive the company further into the future.

Cons

The company is a cultural crossroads. There’s a lot of us that are willing to give our 100 percent to help the company win. There are also a small but growing list of individuals that joined because the compensation is good here and the perks are even better. There’s a growing culture of free-loaders here who are here because the company is rocking but they undermine the mission and care even less about showing up to play their part. It will be a large mistake if management allows that to continue to eat away at what I see as a the strongest business in Austin in many years.

Pros

RigUp is a special company that is high growth with a relatively young management team. You will find that rare in Austin as most senior folks are older. What they lack in age, they make up for in smarts and grit. I only have positive things to say about their leadership. As an early employee, I have had the opportunity to interact closely with various layers of management. The CEO is both strategic and relentless as he's always thinking 6 steps ahead. The COO is meticulous and challenges assumptions. I believe they've set a tone of a rigorous work ethic, speed and thoughtfulness around making sure the business is always positioned for success. This attitude and culture trickles down to every facet of the company.

Cons

This is a company that is swinging for the fences and it was clear to me that they are building for the long run. You should expect to be stressed out and challenged. I left because of another job opportunity at a larger company with managerial potential that was not available at RigUp at the time. Otherwise I'd still be there.

They Changed Their Name From Rigup for A Reason

Pros

An ok place to gather experience but also a house of cards.

Cons

This place has one of the worse cultures I've ever encountered. Management is super cliquey and will scapegoat new hires for their own mistakes. This place is reminiscent of WeWork in a lot of ways not least of which is how they burn through investor money on acquisitions that don't make sense, new business models that aren't feasible and benefits and "perks" that aren't sustainable. This place went through multiple waves of layoffs in the time that I worked there as a result of the aforementioned reasons. If you're an intern this isn't a bad place to cut your teeth but the staff that have been there the longest are incompetent, unprofessional and have immunity based solely the rapport they built up when Workrise was in it's infancy. In summation, this isn't the place to work if you're expecting stability. Don't take my word for it though - Rigup is still represented as a separate company on Glassdoor and you can read reviews from those of us who were laid off.
