Going downhill in Boston

Pros

The flexibility is nice, the product team community is pretty great. The office location is accessible commute wise and the snacks are a nice perk.

Cons

Significantly and systemically underpaid for software engineering. Staffing levels and titles don’t mean much. A lack of organization on projects. PMs are understaffed and don’t have time to do their jobs on the product team. Trying to hire outside senior software engineers rather than supporting talent in house. There have been at least 3 situations where people were discriminated against and nothing was done. Rightpoint puts out PR about diversity/inclusion but doesn’t walk the walk. Diversity/inclusion efforts also seem to ramp up when we’re desperate for staff so it seems like a recruitment tool more than a genuine effort. Rightpoint has become far less transparent in recent months, there used to be an open forum for asking questions of management at our team meetings but they got rid of it.

Pros

• Highly engaged executive leadership. I feel listened to. • Exceptional technology teams. My colleagues are all smart, capable and, frequently impress me. • Big enough to win high-impact projects and small enough to execute nimbly. • Offer several approaches to partnering with clients. It’s not a body shop.

Cons

• There have been a few larger transitions, recently, and some staff are still adjusting. • The market has shifted away from some of the firm’s early strengths. They’ve taken decisive action on this, but change can be hard. • Rightpoint is an awkward size. It feels too big for some. At the same time, there’s plenty of room to grow and receive recognition.
