Toxic and Unsettling

Pros

Decent benefits Competitive pay Smart & hardworking co-workers who care deeply about the customers

Cons

Where to start... Well, firstly, this company does not value you, or your work life balance. Another reviewer here stated that you can bleed for this place and they wouldn't care, and that's exactly true. There's hard work, and then there's an expectation that your work is your life, and Rippling values the latter. My former manager would slack me sometimes at 1-2am and that wasn't questioned. Huh? Additionally, the scope of the role is unclear, and Rippling is (weirdly) still operating in this start-up mentality where this seems to be fine. But it's not, because it leaves a ton of ambiguity to what your role actually is, and when to get involved. I'm all for collaboration, but when projects keep being shifted your way how are you supposed to prioritize? Lastly, another review mentioned this eerie vibe of false positivity and yes, this permeates all interactions with everyone at the company. Most people are tired and burnt out, but don't feel comfortable saying it, and if you do, watch out because you may have upper management breathing down your throat for not contributing enough. The 2.5 years I spent here were incredibly difficult, and undermined a lot of the confidence I had in myself. I would highly recommend reading through all reviews before you choose to work here.

Pros

- innovative technology that is fast evolving - efficiently led company - modern processes and tech stack - world class marketing team - solid base pay - decent transparency from executive leadership team.

Cons

- extremely poor medical benefits. ($300/ month for a $6,000 deductible plan for employee only). - no 401k match - ruthless, heartless executive team who strike fear in the org. Managers and employees are constantly fearful of saying or doing the wrong thing. - they fire people without just cause across all departments. - no culture. - compensation plans are weak compared to industry standards. - very few sales people are eligible to earn equity. - prevalent product gaps in the upper mid-market space. - they don’t take feedback from their employees.

Burnout- would NOT recommend working here!

Pros

The business has a good value proposition and the vision of growth (exclusively from a revenue point of view) is promising. If you love working more than 8 hours, are extremely ambitious, can juggle multiple asks at once, you'll have opportunity to grow here. Everyone I've come across is very smart, capable, and you learn a ton depending on your role and how hard you try to be included into more strategic conversations.

Cons

I was told this was going to be an "intense" job during my interview before I joined (which in hindsight- RED FLAG). I naively did not think that their definition of "intense" is pretty much high stress- all day, every day. And people will slack you all hours of the day, no one cares about "boundaries" here. The burnout is real here, and compared to my last company, there is literally no culture here. Nothing, and no one really tries to bring that energy/enthusiasm. On a similar note, have not seen anything done about DE&I efforts- at least in terms of the U.S. office. And if you are joining as a fully remote employee...well, good luck! You'll feel FOMO every step of the way. If you enjoy being thrown into fire everyday, and can deal with condescending managers with a big ego, you'll thrive here. If you have a family or just want to have a life outside of work, you will not have a good time.
