Pros

Meet plenty of great people Great place to network and meet industry leaders Takes good care of hour employees Great hotel discounts

Cons

Upper management does not walk the talk HR goes out of their way to protect lousy employees and does not allow management to effectively manage Called the plantation Managers are expected to work 80+ hours a week and are not allowed to have a personal life Ownership will not allow for proper staffing so days are spent constantly running around doing the work of several people

Pros

Most of the people are great to work with.Chance to go out of town to work to open other hotels. This particular Ritz is managed by Four Seasons.Free meals and uniforms

Cons

Upper management has little or no idea what goes on in depts. outside front of the house. There is a need for them to micro manage those departments.Atta-boys are frequently given to the wrong people.Little or no warning of impending lay-offs or less hours. It seems the longer you're there the more you get away with, performance wise.

Pros

-Highest prices in the business, so the best job for gratuity based incomes. -Looks awesome on a resume. -Successful by association.

Cons

-Unnecessary mandatory classes. -The "Never Say No to a Guest" mentality can be frustrating. Although there is no doubt this is what separates the company from competitors and is essential to hospitality success, front line employees bear the brunt. Guests are always justified in their requests and you must cater to them. While this is generally reciprocated by guests in ensuing gratuities its not always recognized. And if the guest makes a stink about you not being perfect in any way you will be sure to hear about it from management.
