Riverbed is the company that does things the right way

Pros

Great engineering talent; Best chance for a young engineer to develop in a stable company and yet contribute significantly to some amazing technology; Management has the right attitude to solve problems without taking shortcuts; Its a very supportive (read - "not" cut-throat) work environment which fosters personal development and learning; Career growth is almost completely (as far as realistic) determined by self-motivation; Extremely flexible and friendly work schedule - you can truly work from home or remote locations when you have/need to without worry of judgement

Cons

Growing pains as the company scales; Inability to stave off fancier suitors like Google/Facebook/HotStartups coz Riverbed doesn't exude the same oomph

Rewarding and Frustrating at the same time -(just like everything in life)

Pros

Riverbed has a great group of people working there and you will never be bored because there is always something new happening. The work is challenging and fast-paced but you don't feel that you are the only one pulling your weight. Everyone works hard there and for the most part, there is always someone willing to pitch in. Great teamwork atmosphere as well.

Cons

It can sometimes seem that people who are really not doing their job, are given too many chances to improve. They will be moved to different positions or promoted, when the general consensus is they are not high caliber employees. Sometimes it seems that the company has a problem with changing course too much and following the new and shiny object. We need to stay on top but we also have to look like we have a plan.

Management change their minds continually re the focus. Arrogant leadership and still a small minded company despite the growth Process too complex and prevents sales Too much duplication of effort and lack of respect and professionalism between old and new colleagues......very political
