Pros

Lot of people who made the place feel like a cult have left since the sale.

Cons

Riverbed used to be a decent place to work, despite a core of people who acted like a "fun" cult. But since before the buyout they have completely lost direction. There are too many useless managers, and too many fulltime engineers working 30 hour weeks. Management spends too much on things like new building, new company colors and stupid product names - even Christmas party in city Hall and parade.

Pros

Competitive salary, excellent benefits, liberal expense policy, great products that you can be excited to sell to your customers with plenty of new features that come along very regularly

Cons

Very arrogant culture, both among long-time technology and sales middle to upper management, questionable ethics practices when it comes to HR policies and their enforcement. Much of the "new blood" coming into sales upper management have brought in old colleagues, swapping out one "good old boy" network for another, except this new group knows less about Riverbed's culture, products, and customers, but does have the arrogance and harassment mentality that must have been high on the hiring criteria.

Pros

Good benefits, start up kind of culture, handful of innovative solutions and market leading positions.

Cons

Privately owned (equity firm - read between the lines) and workforce reductions have destroyed the fun, upbeat atmosphere and resulted in most people doing the work of 4. Revolving door with staff and new hires. Horrible executive management since founder stepped down. Serious blunders made with new product directions, acquisitions and markets, most they are retreating from now. Overall just a text book example of how to ruin a good thing.
