Pros

Pay is better than most jobs.

Cons

RVA carried the confrontational style of management directly from the FAA into the contract Air Traffic Control business. Bare bones staffing. We operate with less than half the staffing, the FAA would have for the same facility. The RVA home office does not listen or care about the problems of their controllers. Safety is job 1, unless it costs too much. The home office will only get involved with internal problems when they can enforce disciplinary or corrective action on a controller. Otherwise, they just ignore the controller. It is all about how much money the company can make from the government contract. Home office and management are completely clueless.

Pros

Good Pay for slow to medium sized airports.

Cons

Operates based on government contracts that expire and does not have great benefits. Low staffing levels and high turnover make it difficult to take time off. They do not pay any moving expenses. Facility managers are not paid much more than the controllers working for them to endure the extra responsibilities.
