Pros

Level of scientific freedom of research due to heavily funded labs institutionally.

Cons

The institution management only highlights research from high profile journals and is not based on the quality of the science whuch could be published at any level of impact of journals. That generates a toxic level of pressure.

Pros

Good support, collaboration, community. Great facilities (gym on campus, talks/symposiums, discounts)

Cons

very competitive. The lab I worked in was unnecessarily intense, and HR did not addressed grievances despite being made aware. But, this is "just how it is" in research, though it needn't.
