Pros

HR is phenomenal; they look after employees very well. The system is set up so that the whole university protects employees. Superb benefit and amazing campus and facilities.

Cons

Salary (depending on one's position) is, as an academic/non-profit institution, not enough to support NYC living expenses. Promotion is non-existent if one's a lab staff (scientific). Research assistants appear to be treated as "temporary" employees as the majority of them are new college graduates who will go to med or grad school in 1-2 years. For a more experienced lab technician, a research assistant position is not recommended at all.

Pros

Forward thinking President. Rockefeller has excellent benefits, Great 401 k contribution from employer. Many intelligent . Many people have been working there for years, It is not uncommon to see employees with 20+ years of service.

Cons

Career advancement is extremely rare. If one is looking for a place that is stable with good pay and benefits with little to no career advancement then this might be a good fit. Some investigators feel a sense of entitlement and treat some foreigners as slaves while holding work visas as a way to control against complaints.
