Pros

The environment is fast paced, but friendly. You will immediately have a large amount of responsibility and will immediately become the expert of your field. The projects are exciting and rival those of NASA (Mars, Venus, etc.).

Cons

The IT system is a little clunky, and personnel are friendly, but clearly overwhelmed. HR are great people, but they are also trying to find their way and can be a little frustrating to work with.

Pros

Free gym and coffee. Gender and culture diversity

Cons

The priorities in Rocket Lab are. 1-profit. How this may affect you? No one is paid extra for working long hours. No bonuses since 2018. Small salaries for big engineers. What team building events. Warm beer at the Christmas do 4years straight. Your AKL expenses increase disproportionately to your wages. 2-Quality. To distract you from the main priority, make it interesting and to give the investors tangible data driven insight to the future of the product. 3-Competition. Out-do your peers or be forgotten. 4-All other things. Company Image. Policy. Timesheet accuracy. 5-People. The culture is abysmal, people and culture team are the rock inside the shoe. Some improvements over the years but the hands are tied, just like the managers. If you become a squeaky wheel with remuneration 9/10 you will be constructively dismissed. Nothing will change unless rocket lab runs out of fans.

Hi there, It’s great to hear that you enjoyed some of the perks of working at Rocket Lab! Unfortunately due to COVID we were unable to have any large events, including our usual Christmas party, as much as we would have loved to have all of our staff together. However during the year we did have multiple online events to try and connect our people as best we could. We hope 2022 is the year we can finally have everyone together to celebrate the success we have had in 2021. Quality continues to be a focus for us and we are always looking at ways to improve. When your sending rockets to space you’ve got to make sure that every intricate detail is to the highest standards, which is why we also hire the best employees to deliver to this. We are sad to hear that you didn’t enjoy the culture at Rocket Lab. We understand that it isn’t for everyone, but we do pride ourselves on having a top notch team. With regards to bonuses, we do have a share incentive scheme, as we all as an employee share purchase program, which is very lucrative. Thanks again for taking the time to leave a review. -Rocket Lab People & Culture

Pros

- Interesting Projects - Nice people - Newsletter is informative - CEO is great

Cons

- Don't feel appreciated, no reward for loyalty (you get a 3,5, and 10 year coin) and feel dispensable. - Benefits, pay increases, and rewards for "High performers", however when everybody already works so hard at RL (Rocket before people), the rewards are then down to whoever the manager likes the most. - Feel like I'm unable to speak out as I'll appear as damaged goods to the management and team and then lose opportunities and development.

Hi there, It's awesome to hear that you enjoy the people and projects at Rocket Lab, we are certainly doing extraordinary things with incredibly talented people. In the last 2 years we have increased the percentage of employees who have been awarded shares by over 200% and have made it easier to access shares with our employee stock purchase program. As we move into becoming a large business (we are well over 1000 employees now, with a huge amount of room to grow), we need to streamline our processes and structures, which is necessary to gain efficiencies. Whilst we know some are use to the small company Rocket Lab once was, we still believe in the same key principles and values we have always pursued, which helps us retain the gritty uniqueness that separates us from our competitors. We have recently completed our 2021 culture survey and we have a number of ideas that we think will be very impactful on the topics you have raised. We look forward to sharing these with you soon. Thanks again for taking the time to give us feedback. -Rocket Lab People and Culture
