Pros

Great coworkers, great working relationships between coworkers and teams

Cons

Unrealistic expectations, completely ignorant executives, rockets come before employees, and those at the bottom of the totem pole or outside the management inner circle get the rotten end of the stick every single time. Indirect harassment has been long reported and very aware around company culture but no steps are taken to fix it and often exasperated by the office gossips. Long hours, terrible pay compared to US counterparts but they aren’t much better off either. Not surprising considering how little managers care about employees. The only ones who have stuck around are kiwis who want to stay local or those who are lucky to have caring supervisors.

Hi there, Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. We are really glad to hear that your relationship with your colleagues is such a highlight of working at Rocket Lab. We're sorry to hear that we aren't meeting your expectations in some other areas. It takes a huge amount of dedicated effort to get a rocket into space and this would never have been achieved without the incredible efforts of the team. We know this and we are so grateful for every contribution each and every person here has made. As we grow and mature as a company, we are continually streamlining and improving the way we work, including our systems and procedures. This will mean everyone has more free time and hopefully alleviate some of the pressure that you may have been feeling. If you would be able to please provide some more detail, particularly around the indirect harassment issue and your interactions with our management team, we would really appreciate this so we are able to investigate further, address the issue and make improvements. You can drop by the People and Culture office any time to speak with one of the team, or email us at peopleandculture@rocketlab.co.nz - and of course, anything you choose to share with us will remain 100% confidential. We hope to hear from you soon! - Rocket Lab People and Culture

Pros

Rocket Lab is a great place to work. You’re part of a great team, you’re listened too, pushed to see what you’re capable and much more. Discounted on site lunches, free (small and basic) gym, own computer, own email address, social club activities.

Cons

Car parking can be hard if you’re late, some systems and processes are old and in the process of being updated this year, factory gets hot in summer however big as fans have been installed and this mitigates it slightly.

Hi there, Thank you so much for sharing your feedback with us. It's great to hear that you're enjoying working at Rocket Lab and enjoying the environment and the perks on offer. Thank you also for your acknowledgement of the company's commitment to changing the things that need to change - there is always room for improvement, and we are tackling each task one step at a time. Of course, this can't always be a quick, easy fix but it's great to hear that the efforts of those who've been implementing these changes haven't gone unnoticed. We have also passed on your advice to management at the weekly management meeting yesterday, as we definitely appreciate the impact that just a smile and friendly hello can have on someone's day! Thanks again, and please feel free to drop by the P&C office any time to share any further thoughts or suggestions. - Rocket Lab People and Culture

Pros

Good employees that become a family.

Cons

Chaotic and employees can become too overwhelmed and overworked before management realizes it. You never truly know where you stand with management.

Hi there, Thanks so much for taking the time to provide feedback about your experience working at Rocket Lab. We're really glad to hear you bonded with your colleagues like a family. We have a fantastic team and we love hearing that they've been such a highlight of your time with us so far. In 2019 we nearly doubled in size to help reduce the workload for our people. However growing so rapidly has its challenges, and so embedding more structure and process is a big priority for us in 2020. If you are able to provide any more information or suggestions, please reach out to us confidentially at peopleandculture@rocketlab.co.nz. - Rocket Lab People and Culture
