Pros

Location is great. Human Resources seems very motivated to get everything you need to get started

Cons

As a technician, I face significant challenges due to inadequate access to necessary tools required for the completion of assigned tasks. The basic hand tools available are company-owned and of low quality, specifically sourced from Harbor Freight, and are not suitable for aerospace applications. Frequently, tools are either missing or in use by other technicians or teams, leading to interpersonal friction. The large hangar area, often referred to as the "high bay," is subject to a constant accumulation of fine carbon fiber and fiberglass dust, which poses substantial environmental risks. Ideally, full Tyvek suits and complete face respirators should be worn throughout the workday; however, given the expectations and compensation associated with my position, this requirement is unreasonable. The only chemicals permitted for use are water and isopropyl alcohol. The nature of the work involves substantial drilling and cutting, and the application of appropriate lubricants would significantly reduce dust generation while prolonging the lifespan of power tools, air tools, drill bits, and reamer tooling. Unfortunately, the engineering team, comprised of relatively inexperienced individuals, does not support this approach despite their supervisory role over my work. Their focus remains primarily on their engineering responsibilities, limiting their capacity to provide adequate guidance to technicians; instructions are often conveyed through drawings with minimal explanation. There exists a lack of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to outline best practices or to delineate daily operational procedures. Furthermore, there is an expectation for weekend work, and I was not informed during the interview process about the potential for assignment to night shifts.
