Pros

I good opportunity to start if you are unlicensed the training and study prep for exams was a great experience. You will have to 'pay pack your dues' by having to work as a call center for some time instead of actually preparing for your actual job, though.

Cons

Where should I start? I was hired on a flexible schedule--you work 10 hour days for four days. Then they forced our team to a different schedule. There is a very high turn over in this company. From my training class the longer you stay the less contacts you had. Compensation plan is terrible as far as any MLO jobs go--however, what started out as a decent base pay was a bait and switch much like the schedule I was hired on was. It is a tough industry to be in, especially at Rocket Mortgage where the leads are extremely terrible (meaning people are yelling stop calling here on the other end of the line and immediately hanging up). The culture here is one that requires-I mean "encourages"-- you to work 50+ hour-weeks for little incentive on your part (You will inevitably make whatever the minimum wage is in your state). The training that was so great for to become licensed becomes non-existing on the floor (I imagine this is better in person). The rates here are not competitive so even when I had clients that I was able to work with they would inevitably demonstrate to be unqualifiable upon an interview. Managers here are all about numbers. How many dials? How many hours of talk time? How many texts? How many emails? It's sales and that is expected, but what they are greatly lacking in is in quality and support. Not to mention respect for the worker. I worked in refinance and home equity lines in which some days we were given 0 new leads. If you have concerns you are told to "Trust The Process." You will drink the corporate Kool-Aid of Isms and creating a secure financial future for yourself but your hopes will die in just a couple of months. The Isms look great on paper but in my experience they are not practiced. To end in a slightly positive note I started of with some branch banking experience and was licensed in 14 states thanks to the opportunities at Rocket Mortgage. I was able to help some clients and that was gratifying. I was glad to make my way up to senior banker in the short time I had there as an MLO.

Pros

Good training structure. Solid starting pay for young bankers getting started.

Cons

HIGH expectations right off the rip. 100 questions for home work on multiple days
