Pros

The Rolls-Royce Takover Target submitter hit it right. Training is great - they basically have a university with great classes and instructors. The benefits are pretty good. Starting salaries are competitive. They have an interesting product - if you are "into" jet engines. They have a great library and a museum.

Cons

Forget about getting a raise. They are continuing to cut benefits ( the company is bleeding cash - it costs R-R more $$ to make a jet engine than what they sell for). Their suppliers tell R-R what to do. They tell R-R to change their quality specifications (in the supplier's favor) or the supplier will raise their prices. Management beats the heck out of their "underlings" come performance review time (management sets expectations that can't be met - therefore, they have a reason to fire you - in case they want). And the owners, R-R U K, is just look only at the numbers R-R N/A is producing and not the whole picture of what is going on. Very difficult to advance or transfer positions. Cumbersome systems to work with.

Pros

A lot going on within the Company on the people agenda - employee opinion survey, new Pendleton leadership model. Probably no headcount reduction this year in Human Resources (as so many people choosing to move on).

Cons

The leadership within HR ironically are the least people focused team I've worked with. Overly critical, parental coaching style, control freaks who seem genuinely surprised when their blogs go uncommented upon. We simply don't trust each other to deliver - hence the acknowledge bureaucracy and significant time it takes to get products and projects past the finishing post.
