Pros

The products and the people. Such a broad and diverse community across the Nordics and growing to include colleagues around the world. The range of products is huge and the focus on delivering specific customer project needs in every vessel remains a challenge in a cost competitive world. Great opportunity to move around the global business if mobile and eager for that challenge.

Cons

There remains a tension between the Aero standardised process oriented way of doing things and the more fluid Nordic and Marine methods. This is seen in the drive towards management structures that do not always recognise the value of older organisations. Some of this is necessary as the company attempts to globalise its production and supply chain base. A strong bureaucracy exists and the insistence on creating tension through the matrix of functional and line management leads to very slow decision making and a lack of ownership in some areas.

Pros

-Fantastic people; hard-working, intelligent, and fun -Interesting work -Amazing products -Great office location

Cons

Nearly all of the cons are related to parent company (Rolls-Royce plc) not understanding the US market or management problems in the UK: - terrible healthcare (may be similar to market in Indianapolis (large Rolls-Royce facility) but not similar to DC market; - low pay for the work performed; - horrifyingly poor IT (Reston team has much better IT than corresponding teams in UK); - incredibly bureaucratic organization that hinders employees ability to respond to the needs of both the business and its customers; - global company that cannot seem to understand how to function outside the UK.
