Glad to hear the balance is working well for you - it really does make a difference. We know career growth isn’t one-size-fits-all, and there’s still more to do to make career paths feel clearer. Thanks for your feedback.

Pros

-Defense job so pay is higher for 'embedded' software engineers starting out but nowhere near FAANG. -Work-life-balance most of the time. -Good Benefits -To outsiders RR brand sounds 'fancy' so you can impress your friends -Potential Travel

Cons

-UK company. Non-defense project I was on tended to play second-fiddle to European teams -Corporate Job, so you have to deal with everything that goes with that. -Not a 'software company' (lower pay) -IT (what is not contracted out) will fight with you during the development process all the way, citing security but offering no solutions. Felt a lot of my job was just fighting bureaucracy to allow me to just do my job. -Jobs tend to pigeon-hole (stay too long and you will only be useful at RR) -Old/outdated processes- NOT high-speed -DEI Kool-aid -Mandated Covid Vaccinations -LARGE company, so useful development experience is limited. -in-fighting between internal organizations

Appreciate you sharing your experience. Sounds like the benefits, balance, and the kind of work you’re doing are making a difference. We know working in a large, global organisation can sometimes be a challenge and your feedback is helpful as we continue to simplify and support our colleagues to do their best work.
