Pros

Genuinely care for patients - at Royal, employees go the extra mile to make patients feel special. That positive attitude goes a very long way in patient care, and in life. Very fun and encouraging work environment - almost everyone turns into your family. I still keep in contact with many of my coworkers. Helpful supervisors and trainers - my FTO was always available for me with any questions I had. My supervisors were very personable and willing to help with all they could. Eye opening - After working at Royal and being surrounded by like-minded people, I learned so much about the different career possibilities in the medical service. Everyone was so helpful and inspiring. Overall, a great company and I was very sad to leave. Would highly recommend to anyone looking to start a career in the EMS services.

Cons

Long days - but this is expected with any EMS job. Royal dispatchers do try their best to give ample breaks, but it is not always possible. Some equipment - rigs are constantly in the shop for numerous issues. Some provided equipment can be improved to give slightly more accurate readings. The good news is that there is always someone to help out with any issue.

Pros

Clinical experience is second to none for BLS. You will be able to use it to your advantage in allied health, especially paramedic and RN. Also very likely to work with other highly motivated people aiming to do similar things. In that regard, surrounding yourself with like-minded people is also part of the equation to success.

Cons

Sometimes can't get a lift assist when you really need it. The clinical experience more than makes up for it though.
