Pros

Super viral on social media. long term structure

Cons

The role was not what was presented during the interview process, and expectations changed almost immediately after starting. I was quickly given a much heavier workload than what had been discussed, which made the position feel misleading from day one. Management was split 50/50 where one side was solid but the other also lacked control over basic operations, which created constant inconsistency. There were effectively two different ways of doing the same task (Management’s way and the servers’ way) and standards were enforced 1/2 the time. Since staff often ignored direction without consequence. This led to confusion, uneven workloads, and a frustrating work environment where accountability depended on who you were. There also seemed to be clear favoritism toward certain servers. On top of that, management could be dismissive and unprofessional, including belittling comments, threats of firing or silent treatment. Overall, the workplace felt disorganized, unfair, and wayyy more chaotic than what was initially promised.

Pros

Like any job, there is opportunity to meet some nice people to chat with. The tips were pretty good, turning a $18 base pay day into a $150 day. I didn't find the money good enough though to outweigh the cons. Training is a good and thorough 5 shifts and you get free meals every time. They also provide a big breakfast for everyone to pick off of and provide free coffees and things to people who perform well (high revenue, good customer reviews, etc.) Really good about gender and sexual orientation inclusion.

Cons

At this location, some of the employees were legitimately bullies. Really stressful environment and I was physically threatened once in my brief time there. Really unkind and competitive people (some, not all) who just seem angry all the time. The parking options are kind of a mess in New Orleans in busy downtown areas but that's doable if the rest of this job wasn't crazy. The shifts are 8-10 hours (including opening and closing), and there's no shorter option. It's physically tiring and there are no breaks and you will get yelled at if you stop to drink or eat when someone thinks you shouldn't. They didn't tell me this structure in my interview and I didn't see it online in my research either.
