Don't waste your time if you are a Great manager

Pros

Usually home by 4 or 5. (basically the only reason I still work here. Kinda have quality of life...except I miss everything on weekends) Insurance is decent, but not the best. lots of female health issues not covered Growth opportunities if you are willing to relocate.you get to dress as you please, based on what area you work. Since the company is still small, you can communicate directly with people in each dept, usually a direct cell phone line. (I rarely got anything when I emailed)

Cons

+No growth opportunities if you don't live in New Orleans. +No weekends off, unless you request it, and even then it will probably get denied +Bonus structure is AWFUL! +Never expect appreciation for going the extra mile for them or achieving great results +They have a "gotcha mentality". Audits and inspections are all by surprise. Even when the director comes by, they look at you like you should have panic in your eyes. +Labor parameters are so low, so managers have to work hourly positions for most of the day. Then you are reprimanded for not having manager tasks completed, during the day. +vacation time is accrued each pay period, so you have to work 6 months before being able to take time off. Then its only 80hrs a year, until you make 5 years +2 months of the year are blocked off for time off (Mardi Gras) +most managers do not really know how to manage people. +no clear direction for helping great employees move up. Most single parents are blocked from moving up, because of the hours we work. Its very difficult to be a single parent (to younger kids), and be at work for 5:30am. +if you are a great manager your talents are wasted here. You will not be heard, with good ideas. You will not be respected for the unique management style you can bring, even when achieving good results. + since communication is one stop, you don't get credit for the things you do, just the GM +You will only move up by being buddy buddy with the hire ups. +this business is very cliquy and the people in the cliques are the ones that are rewarded. +No structure for manager pay increases. +Somehow we are "meeting-ed" to death, yet the trickle down of communication is still awful, because they only communicate with GM's. And Gm's don't like or are just not good at sharing the info. +there isn't too much wiggle room in hiring. You can find talented people, but not have many hours to give them, since its a 1 shift operation. Needing 7-9, cooks on a weekend, but only 1-3 on weekdays, make it hard to retain good people. +Like most companies they stress training/cross-training but give no labor to do so +Lastly if you are looking for a place that will help you grow your management skills, this is not the place to be either. The development is Franklin Covey "seminars" that you can do on your own. But in all honestly, those lessons do not help you with people managing skills, and thats what management is all about.
