      As a public university, you will get a lot of work load. The size of classes have been increasing for the past few years, so you get more grading to do.

      Pros

      You have lots of opportunity to meet very smart, enthusiastic people who are experts in their fields. Whenever you have a problem or have a question related to your research just knock one of the doors.

      Cons

      For a grad assistant a supervisor means a lot. Depending on their style, you may have to struggle with all the problems during your research yourself.

      Pros

      My duties included signing students in, answering the phone, and cleaning the dry-erase boards. None of those are onerous tasks. If was a particularly busy day, such as the days before midterms when lots of students come in for tutoring, then my shift would seem to go by very quickly.

      Cons

      There are some days where there are no tutors working and no one comes in to study. I wasn't allowed to study at my desk, so those shifts were sometimes tough to get through.
