Pros

MyRyan will improve your quality of life and is a major competitive advantage over Ryan's industry competitors. I've heard the ability to use MyRyan differs upon which team you are assigned, but it has helped me to improve my work quality greatly. Brint Ryan the CEO is aggressive in expanding Ryan's market share, and he is intently willing to adopt creative suggestions from his employees. My managers and the principal at my office location are excellent, I really lucked out. Brint announced the 401(k) will soon be improved to make it one of the best in the industry.

Cons

I have one issue with Ryan, but it is a major one. It is my experience that Ryan does not make cost of living adjustments depending on the market. The base pay Ryan offers to tax consultants in my market is just not competitive. Consultants based out of Dallas make more bonus pay because of oil and gas projects there, but my cost of living is almost twice what theirs is, not to mention the enormous disparity in purchasing power. There has been about 80% turnover in tax consultants at my office in just the past two years. Ryan's business model is excellent and Brint is honest when he says employees are his first priority, I just wish the firm showed more commitment to keeping talented people long-term who are just starting out.

Amazing People and Amazing Company

Pros

I have worked at this company full time for almost 4 years. I started as an intern and was then offered a full time position after I graduated with my bachelors degree. The growth of this company in the last 4 years has been incredible. I have worked on both the service delivery side of this firm in our property tax department and have recently moved over to our global shared services side supported by our people group. I have seen this firm from two different perspectives and I can tell you from my experiences that Ryan ALWAYS puts great focus on their employees. Every position within this firm is considered important and every voice regardless of what position you are in is heard. I truly believe that our leaders have the employees of Ryan's best interest at heart. This is truly a great place to work and I do not see myself growing my career at any other company.

Cons

When I was working in service delivery, after 3 years as an associate consultant I asked for a promotion and was unable to be promoted because I did not have 12 hours of accounting even though I had a bachelors degree and had proved myself over the 3 years as an associate consultant. I learned from the ground up, was excelling at managing all of my responsibilities and handling work well beyond the position I was in. I would like to see the firm allow people to grow based on tenure and great manager reviews rather than the 12 accounting courses required in order for somebody to further their career. If we have employees that are stuck in a position even though they have a college degree and are doing great things for this firm, they just don't have 4 accounting classes on their transcript they shouldn't be reprehended for that. At what point does tenure and a job well done override our 12 hour accounting credit policy? Other than that, this truly is a wonderful company with incredible people!

Pros

Ryan has one of the most unique work environments. The work you do here is tough, but it is rewarding. For the most part, everyone seems to be working towards the same goal. Ryan is always looking for opportunities to improve and really listens to their employee's suggestions.

Cons

I am struggling to find Cons, but perhaps adjusting some of the degree requirements for standout employees who want to move up.
