Dangerous & Toxic

Pros

The onsite clinic helps cover the gap in ryobi health care coverage.

Cons

Friends and family network deeply ingrained within plant one maintenance. Management will provide a questionable job offer to Hr to get his friend a higher wage. There's no nepotism policy in place at ryobi, Management place family members into positions they are not qualified to do. Dangerous work environment, fork trucks have the right of way above personnel traffic. Extension cords used routinely to power permanent equipment, water pressure vessels installed within 36" of a power distribution panel. FDA certified equipment is modified without approval from the FDA. Machines randomly blow up during molten metal injection to the shot sleeve when it mixes with water and creates an evaporation explosion. Molten metal is shot out of the casting tool on occasion, spattering the ceiling and raining down hot metal on personnel traffic in the area. A heavy smogg is generated by the release agent atomized on the hot casting tool that hangs in the air and covers workers hard hats with a black goo often referred to as water vapor by the management group sitting in thier air conditioned offices. Work with convicted pedophiles. Waste fraud and abuse runs rampant in plant one maintenance department. Management throws 10K worth of software licenses in the trash with no repercussions, capital funding moves around from different accounts to hide and cover up mistakes made during project work. Certain electrical vendors are awarded projects even if they are the highest bidder. Operators work through the weekend only to come in Monday to find the parts scrapped at the furnace awaiting re-melt. This is caused by lack of knowledge and experience in die casting. ryobi uses layoffs every couple of years to get rid of people who have asked the question "why" too many times or have mentioned the words "waste fraud and abuse" too often. They will terminate an asset without justified cause. You can have perfect performance reviews, no rule infractions it won't matter. ryobi will call it manpower reduction to keep it all legal. They can't just terminate you because you own better vehicles than the management. Micro management practiced daily by people trying to tell you what to do with no clue of the basics of the job requirements. Skilled trades not spoken here, you will be trained by means of ryobis school of "fake it till you make it". A very toxic work environment!

Pros

They are well positioned with their customers including Ford, Hyundai, and Honda. Salary pay is competitive with most places and the profit sharing bonus is very good. Insurance is good and the on-site clinic has always been a positive experience for me.

Cons

Have not received full bonus payout since 2020. If your spouse is offered insurance and you cover them anyways, the surcharge is high. It is difficult to move upward. There are not many promotions available. And it seems most promotions are some sort of new position because of restructuring to make XYZ more efficient. It's an excuse to give someone a pay raise and promotion without anyone under them moving up.
