Pros

Great company as long as you are willing to put in the work. They have a vibrant and very friendly atmosphere. If you prove yourself from the get go, upper management will help guide your career.

Cons

Can be long hours striving to create new business. Although there are some top echelons of government talent at SAIC, just because folks have a long government career doesn't make them suitable managers. Sometimes SAIC rewards sub par managers who they believe may have contacts on the backs of the folks who actually do the work. In many instance, these managers are simply highly paid talking heads who do not deliver.

Pros

I like the team spirit and support of my peers within SAIC. Direct management is pretty good, and the company allows plenty of flexibility to employees and managers to flex into even the most complex and challenging work situations. Management can be sensitive to the needs and desires of individuals and families. The company is very focused on ethics, honesty, integrity, and customer satisfaction. The work really does come first.

Cons

As they say in sales, "honestly" is a word you never hear from an honest person. I sometimes wonder if the company has such a fanatical focus on ethics because a lot of their hiring practices seem a little bit less-than-ethical. For example, the company routinely hires ex-government employees within days, sometimes minutes, of those employees leaving the government. Sometimes, the employees thus hired aren't obviously of technical use to the company. For example, I've seen engineers hired who had no engineering degree and minimal experience in the field they're hired into. It's not easy to pick up RF network engineering on the fly. Sometimes, the work comes before the employees. Getting the job done on schedule and under budget sometimes has impacts like unpaid overtime and the 90-hour workweek. Company policy unfortunately forbids taking the extra 50 hours as vacation later.
