Pros

One of the best reasons to work at SAIC is for the opportunity to collaborate and learn from some very bright scientists and engineers. SAIC has a very good base of very smart people. SAIC usually has business in its sales pipeline within its federal and commercial sector opportunity. One of the best reasons to work at SAIC is for the opportunity to collaborate and learn from some very bright scientists and engineers. SAIC has a very good base of very smart people. SAIC usually has business in its sales pipeline within its federal and commercial sector opportunity. Sorry, this is all I have time to write.

Cons

Most of the time you will start your career here working well over forty hours work weeks. While doing this, you will only be paid for a normal work week. You will be used for your expertise until the project is completed. Then, you will either be transitioned to a support role, thrown on another project, or placed on internal work via a bench until you are told to leave the company. All of this would have been avoided has the sales folks actually closed more sales instead of generating a bunch of activity with little to no results. The sales pipeline has problems closing leaving delivery scrambling for the next gig.

Pros

I learned a lot working at SAIC and constantly had management's support with different projects I wanted to get into. As an intern, I always felt respected and they paid me an amazing rate at $16/hr. SAIC offers a rotating employee schedule which means you can be jumping around the SAIC corporate world performing different jobs and functions throughout your career and they tend to be very open to your desires to jump around. The one time I asked for a day off to go on a cruise they gave it to me so I have no complaints there at all.

Cons

Sometimes it's very difficult to get ahold of upper management. I remember multiple times haven't to wait 1+ weeks to get a 30 minute appt with them and I'm not sure if it was because of my standing as an intern or simply because they were that busy. As far as my direct manager it wasn't very easy to get in touch with them either but they do have an open door policy so as long as you keep your eyes open you can normally talk to them the same day. Because of their lack of availability it often means that they don't give very much feedback or recognition.

Pros

Decent Salary, good coworker atmosphere.

Cons

Lousy, highly political middle management, with little to no qualifications. All song and dance, zero substance. Scratch the surface of their vast expertise, and there is nothing there. Managers are very good at sales pitches, and very poor on the technical side. They guarantee delivery of the moon, setting unreasonable client expectations. This ultimately results in renegotiation of deliverables after the contract has already been awarded. If you look through SAIC history, this is a very, very common scenario.
