Pros

SAIC provides a great starting arena for those who are fresh out of the military. Easy transition into civilian life. Also, most of the management processes are online which allows you to answer your own questions or get a response back very quickly. The benefit package is also incredible compared to other jobs. No one else could beat it. Lastly, the people you work with are very knowledgeable and easy going. Everyone contributes and is a team player.

Cons

Starting pay could be higher for experienced professionals.

Pros

Good work life balance, interesting projects, opportunities to travel. Good online training resources. Though this may be specific to the culture of a given group, information/knowledge sharing is encouraged.

Cons

Little career guidance and direction. Mentoring and growth opportunities are lacking. The company has become far more numbers-oriented since going public so some risk aversion is creeping into decisions. Watch out for proposal time - there are no limits to what they will ask of you time-wise, i.e. nights, weekends, holidays are all fair game. Little to no comp time is offered in return. It's considered part of the job.

Pros

Generic Government software consulting company. If you are lucky enough to get onto an interesting project you can enjoy your work. Most contracts require government management approval & direction to work more than 40 hours a week, so you rarely work extended hours.

Cons

You are a generic, replaceable cog. The company has absolutely no loyalty to you and no interest as long as the customer continues to renew contracts. Pay raises will not keep up with inflation, or even with government pay raises.
