Pros

SALMON Health and Retirement stands out as one of the few organizations in senior living that has successfully balanced growth with heart. With over 70 years of family ownership, it’s clear that values still drive decisions here — not just the bottom line. There’s a strong sense of purpose across all levels. Teams genuinely care about residents and each other. The organization embraces its continuum of care model — from Independent Living to Hospice — and that allows for a more seamless, thoughtful approach to aging. From a leadership standpoint, there’s a clear focus on innovation, operational excellence, and workforce empowerment. Ideas are encouraged, voices are heard, and there’s a real drive to “do more,” which isn’t just a tagline — it’s a cultural expectation. No organization is perfect, but the intent to keep improving, listen, and adapt is real here. Advice to Management: Continue doubling down on workforce culture — recognition, development, and communication make a big difference. And never lose sight of what makes SALMON unique: relationships, trust, and mission-driven care.

Cons

Like any organization undergoing growth and evolution, there are inevitable growing pains. Change can be fast-paced at times, and expectations are high — but that comes with the territory when you’re trying to lead in a complex industry like senior living. Communication is improving, but with multiple campuses and service lines, it takes ongoing effort to ensure alignment. That said, leadership is open to feedback, and there's a genuine desire to make things better.
