Pros

Open culture; Leadership team is focussed on issues to be fixed not on politics - SAP is, compared to other employers, a company with relatively low levels of politics Global Opportunities are open on all levels - leadership team is committed to run the company with a global team, not as a kind of centralized hub& spoke system Executive Board consists of five nationalities, Different career paths possible - technical & management

Cons

Compensation for Garduates too low Employer branding at campus very low No good opportunities for MBA, its an engineering company SOme departments are really still too 'German" in their thinking and approach, though it got better ove rthe last years Innovation cycles are too long - from idea to productizaton; Diversity: Asia is often a bit neglected when it comes to participation in global or regional top management

Pros

Reasons to work at SAP include the brand name, the relative stability of working with enterprise-level software and for those who are detail-oriented and committed to quality, working with Germans is a definite plus. Also, the internal IT infrastructure at SAP is incredible.

Cons

The main downside is being tied to the ABAP development language which doesn't see any use outside of SAP applications. At the same time, this means there are opportunities to consult for companies that run SAP's software.

Pros

As the blue-chip of the blue-chip software vendors one should endeavor to go through SAP's doors at least once in your career. Does good things for your CV.

Cons

Germany culture is not for everyone. Definitely the anti-thesis of American style culture companies. The breadth of the solution is so huge unless you have prior experience working on any of their products newbies get overwhelmed very quickly. It may take more than a year to be acquainted sufficiently to perform the role of a sales consultant to customer. That's the reason why a lot of people scrape by in SAP and don't earn the respect of the SAP folks internally. There's a lot of newbies and old folks in the company but the middle is bare!
