Pros

Pay was lower than the industry standard (around 2019) but the benefits were great. Awesome PTO, health benefits, and work life balance was great. I ended up switching industries and falling into another line of work, and I miss SAP constantly. Looking back, the benefits generally outweighed the cons.

Cons

Code was a mess. Communication between teams was a bit disorganized, but that’s a bit expected with companies so large. Promotions were based on tenure and not how successful you were at your job. Diversity wasn’t great. I won’t go into it more, but the dev team could afford to see a bit variety with who they hire.

Pros

* Big company means not too much work, and an employee's work will mostly fit their job description. * Fair number of opportunities to advance career within SAP as an internal hire * In spite of layoffs in 2024, SAP did avoid over-hiring in the years prior, explaining that they foresaw this possibility. To their credit, layoffs in 2024 were substantially less than at other major companies / their competitors.

Cons

* Some positions exist that have become obsolete. This wastes the time of the employees who are in impactful positions. * Senior management typically reorganizes its own structure 1-2 times per year, which results in confusion and frustration within the company. * Pay is lower than for similar positions at other companies.
