Pros

The company truly values employees and customers. The commitment to work/life balance comes from the top down and they believe in it. As a result, employees treat each other fairly and well. There is a tremendous sense of camaraderie. And the benefits really are top notch.

Cons

Nobody ever leaves, so it can be hard to move up. There are a lot of smart people there, and a lot of hard working people, but also a lot of people who don't seem to accomplish or contribute much other than add to the process. The "no layoffs" mentality, for good or ill, means that SAS never undergoes the clean up of the dead wood that routinely happens at other companies. The culture of consensus means that nearly anyone can derail a project, even if it has little or nothing to do with their area of responsibility.

Pros

If you have children you dont ever have to put in a full work week. Great Medical coverage. Produces a product that works - a corportate culture that doesnt

Cons

Cronyism and personal political weigh significantly regarding professional movement within the sales organization. There are no mentor ship or professional skills training available to any inside sales employees. Zero incentive, monetary or otherwise, to achieve over %100 of quota. SAS has turned over upper management ( head of sales ) 3 times in four years. The inside sales group at SAS are only the only sales related employees to not receive an office.

Pros

SAS provides a good work-life balance for those with families or other personal demands. SAS places a lot of emphasis on amenities such as on-site gym, day care, cafeteria, health care facility, etc. Benefits and time off are good, if you can have a job function that allows you to actually use all of your vacation.

Cons

SAS provides limited growth opportunities and little emphasis is placed on career development. Compensation is below market for many positions, so it appeals more to working couples than to younger professionals or sole wage earners. SAS is very manual in many of its business processes, so it tends to be overstaffed rather than focusing on technically efficient ways of doing business.
