Living the Values Every Day!

Pros

What I love most about SCA is that the values aren't just words on a laminated card that gets handed out at special events... we truly live them every day. Teamwork is built into every aspect of our business, and teammates are recognized for their hard work and commitment. It is a pleasure to come to work every day!

Cons

Busy, busy, busy! If you aren't willing to roll up your sleeves and help with whatever needs doing, don't even think about SCA. It is all hands on deck whenever there's a need. I'm not sure that's really a Con, but certainly a consideration if you aren't ready to work hard.

Great company!

Pros

I work for the Support Services division in Birmingham, AL. My work team is supportive and senior management provides the support needed for my function. Great atmosphere, and a company wide focus on growth, as well as personal and corporate improvement.

Cons

As a fairly young company, we've been in a 'Just Do It' mode, which can lead to shadow processes and undocumented procedures. As we document and formalize processes, it helps us justify additional staffing, but it can be a struggle to stay caught up.

Underpaid and demanding

Pros

People were okay. You will always be challenged

Cons

It is pretty cut throat and you are always expected to do things in a very specific way so there is not much room for error. Ie I got in trouble once for not knowing that ups requires an orange sticker for Saturday shipments! (And I did not work in the mail room, mind you.) I personally don't like this pressure but I guess it's typical of corporate environment am I work now in a non profit which is less intense and higher paying!
