Pros

Paid on time. That's about the long n short of it all.

Cons

Lack of communication from upper management. Push for numbers over quality defeats the purpose of inspections.

Pros

you get to experience different terminals and work with different products so the job doesnt get as old. - pretty sweet when its slow since there is guarantee pay u can have work weeks where u only for 10-15 hours and get paid for 40 since its guarantee pay -they pay for your phone bill since you need it on you at all times 24/7 -they pay for your mileage even though the rate could be better but its still nice to get that check. not a bad company overall. the management is nice but the hours and no schedule sucks for family/responsibilites

Cons

-being on call and getting calls at ridiculous times can be hard for a family man like myself. -long hours away from home. I been on job sites for 20+ hours and still got a call early next morning to do a sample pickup(crazy) - the job expects so much for so little pay(you have to work long hours remember all kinds of formulas and also fill out a tally book for measurements and be your own timekeeper and also completes lots of paper work and computer work all for one job for under $20/hr is crazy -the job can be really dangerous for under $20/hr -you get punished for using time(even though you are on call) using a sick day seems to be like a punishment since you lose your guarantee pay. -low pay for what you do in the field. -zero work/ life balance

Hi! thank you for your long review. I cannot agree more that you never get bored as an inspector. I am happy to hear that you are satisfied having a guaranteed pay even if you didn't work. I am sorry to hear that you are not satisfied with the long hours and being on call. Work/life balance is very important at SGS and as an open culture, you can speak to your manager about your concerns. Keep up the great work.
