Pros

I definitely learned a lot while working there. I worked as an out source for Dow Chemical. So most of my experience was through Dow training

Cons

Not really much space to grow in the company.

Various work schedule

Recommend

Business Outlook

Pros

Easy job physically and mentally. Desired work days can be accommodated. Some day you can get paid for 4 or 8 hours and not have to work depending on the longshoreman's Union schedule. Longshoremen get a 1.5 hour lunch break and this usually means your lunch break is the same in most cases. Rain, delays or cancels work and you may or may not be paid.

Cons

You may be required to work a 12 hour shift on short notice. Some inspection station can be very dust and loud. Your car will also get dusty. Working outdoors can get very cold while working on the ship for cargo inspection during the winter months. Inspecting train railcars at nights along the one mile track can be hard on your feet. Rain, delays or cancels work and you may or may not be paid
