Pros

Full time job with benefits- vacation, retirement, etc all industry standard. Health benefits not great but decent for price. Some staff are great at their jobs, friendly, and helpful.

Cons

I've worked for several property management companies, I've also experienced a few management transitions, no, they are not all bad, but SHP is. Leaving SHP was the easiest decision I ever made. First, I was grossly under compensated. I now manage one-third the units, half the buildings, and have much better benefits and make MORE money than I did at SHP. Secondly, at SHP, you can do good work and still be told it's not enough. I now get regular compliments and accolades for doing my job well. Training and on-boarding is terrible, worse than your average company and that's not saying much! Micromanagement is the worst I've experienced. Now when I ask a supervisor a question, the response I get is "I trust your judgement, do what you think is best for your property". You will NEVER hear those words at SHP. Main site staff can be very unhelpful, bordering on rude (there's a few gems as well, but that's not the norm). SHP is extremely closed to any input or suggestions for improvement. If you don't agree with them keep your mouth shut. They also seem to bring outsiders in rather than promote their best employees (I now have a mentor, career development plan, and outlined pathway to senior management!) A terrible place to work in so many ways. As a result, many of the best employees have left, which creates a downward spiral in staff quality. Wait for a better position, you are worth more in every way elsewhere.

Unfair Company

Pros

salary, benefits, bonus and training

Cons

Company does not back you up or support you. Relies on supervisors/ employees who have become complacent. NEVER gives the employee the benefit of doubt and NEVER gives due process when defending ones integrity. Borderline abuse in the work place...no one to report to due. The owner has NO CLUE what really goes on in the work environment. Company would rather pay off discriminatory/ law suite cases than stand behind the honesty of their employees . Company seems to be ok with "if it looks good" attitude. Disgrace.

Pros

Company is great, maintenance staff work hard and as a team

Cons

A few in higher authority (Management) are just in it for the money and not the job and abuse their position and do not follow policy and procedures, rules and regulations and have a total disregard for the safety and health of their clients and maintenance staff
