Pros

You cannot get fired. When I first started people told me it was a secure job, what I didn’t realize they meant is that you don’t have to do any work and they still won’t fire you. A lot of people who don’t even show up are heard from rarely and keep their job because the termination process is so painful for managers.

Cons

Basically everything about this place is inferior to working anywhere else in the bay. The office is beyond ugly unless you’re in the only new building. People are all upset about being underpaid. No one comes into the office. The pay is really just painfully low even for full PhDs. There’s only one cafe and it serves bad food and charges 20$ for lunch.

Cons

I was initially excited about the opportunity to work at SLAC and was particularly looking forward to collaborating with the team. Upon starting my position, I learned that the manager who originally hired me left the company two days before my start day, and I was not informed before I signed the contract with the company. I had two more offers simultaneously; if I had known this, I would have moved forward with my other offers. We had an interim manager for one month, and after that, the manager who came permanently was not part of my hiring team, and our professional interactions turned unfavorable. In our first one-on-one meeting, she disclosed that you are on probation. Strangely, she abruptly discontinued my training programs, and humiliating remarks accompanied her responses to my requests for assistance. Regrettably, my experience at SLAC took a drastic turn, resulting in the unexpected termination of my employment last week. This turn of events is disheartening, especially considering the factors that initially influenced my decision to join SLAC, including the hiring team and the company's overall reputation. I felt it was important to share this update with everyone wanting to join the company.
